Hannah: Home cooking is healthier, cheaper, and more sustainable than outside meals. We all know this. It can also be more tiring and time-consuming. And if you make a bad dish, it’s just plain miserable. I know this from first-hand experience. For years, I found cooking to be a daunting task and I couldn’t crack the basics. Why make a lackluster ravioli when I could just microwave a better-tasting frozen one?
Then I started to learn from Beulah, who’s a natural home-chef. She can take a basic can of black beans and, in five minutes, turn it into dinner’s star dish. Potluck-goers are still praising her shrimp years later. She’s seemingly cracked the code on good home cooking.
What’s her secret? It’s simple: she never does too much. You’ll see in her recipes that she’s a self-described minimalist and she makes great cooking easy. And now she’s making it accessible with these simply good eats.

Chef Beulah’s going to be doing most of the heavy lifting here, but I’ll throw in some of my learned three cents along the way. While I’m not an expert home chef like her, I’m now a much more confident cook. Instead of ordering in, I actually look forward to eating my own food. My diet is better, I’ve lost weight, and I’m running faster than I have in two decades. So pull up a chair and dig in with us.
